Saddness, I have bee surrounded by it for the last few weeks. So much so that I couldn't bring myself to writing on my blogs. It has involved the tragic passing of some very young men. Son's of friends of mine...son's that were the same age as my own sons.
Tear have flowed, we are emotionally drained but life must go on. Faith and belief comes us together.

I have been away from this blog for a few reasons. I have had a few health problems, my teenager needed the computer for school work and finally the whole system needed repair. Now I hope that I am back on the right track. Onward and upward.

The Smallest gestures in life make the biggest impact.
Life is about making a difference in this world, no matter how small or large. Not all of us will win a Noble Peace prize but each of us has the ability to make a change, a difference in someone’s life each and every day. In a spiritual sense we call this the Law of Karma or the Universal Law of Cause and Effect. But to most of us it is just human nature. Making a change can be giving someone a hug, a shoulder to cry on or helping a complete stranger.
A fellow blogger recently recalled an incident when they helped a lady on an escalator. They could see that disaster was about to happen- instead of walking away they ran to assist this lady. This small of act of kindness is all it takes to make a difference in someone’s life.

I was reading a friends blog, how she had tried on at least 23 dresses in one afternoon to try and find one to wear to a special occasion. To protect this person's identity I have changed a few details but the story is still the same. Every dress was wrong. Either she did not feel right in it or others did not like the outfit on her. It made me think. Now I know this person and I think she is beautiful and has a good figure. But the dresses made her feel frumpy. I wanted to tell her in person how beautiful inside and out she really is. We all have issues about what we look like. Hey, every time I get clothes out of my wardrobe I am reminded of my size. I am an 18, I have to wear size 20 or 22 pants and skirts to accomadate my tubes etc. Nothing makes you more depressed when you buy clothes in the "BIG" section. Which is probably why I don't buy clothes very often. But I did go out last thursday and I bought two tops, yes they were size 18, yes that is my size. Yes I wish I was a size 14 or a 12 but I am not. I am me. So accept me for who I am. I am beautiful on the inside and outside as my daughter keeps on telling me. And after 26 years even though I am no longer the size 10, I am still the girl of my husbands dreams.

With all the rushing that we do during the Christmas season, we often forget to take time for ourselves.. This year take time to slow down, 'smell the roses' and do some thing for yourself. Often this can mean saying 'no'. It could also mean saying 'no' to other things as well.

Life continues on even when your heart is aching. We have experienced many highs and lows over the last month. Along with the passing of my darling father-in-law we have had the break up of my son's long term relationship. There have been family illnesses and the worry of transporting by plane the ones who are ill. We have had the joy of dancing concerts and School Formal and the stress of exams and assignments. The delights of the new additions to the family ( animals). Yes, life continues on even when your heart is breaking and you want it to stop.

Saddness

Today is a sad day. It is the third anniversary of the death of a friend of TAD (teenage daughter). She has come home from school and gone straight to bed. I noticed that she was cuddling her teddy bear; bear has not been out of the wardrobe for years.

You want to protect your children, hold them tight, not let anything or anyone hurt them in anyway. HOWEVER, you cannot and you feel helpless as a parent.

I remember at my talk last Sunday I was asked what my reaction to death was and how I felt about it. They wanted to know if I could shrug off death and because of my beliefs concentrate on the fact that the person who has died is in ‘a better place’. No, to me death is still painful. I am not frightened of my own death but when a friend passes, I still have the pain that I do not have that physical touch with them anymore.

As one who comes from a family where many children have ‘passed over’, I feel the pain that the family & friends will be going through today. My heart still aches over our losses. There will always be the unanswered questions. The Why, the what would they look like now? The 18th, 21st birthdays that would never come, the marriage and of course the grandchildren.

Tears pour down my cheeks, it now too painful for me to continue. Yes, I do have my faith and I know that the Spirit of the child will always be within my heart , but a death of a child is so very painful.

Last Meditation Class for the year

Tuesday night was our last meditation class for the year. I will miss our Tuesday nights together but I do look forward to seeing them next year. I know that some of them read my blogs BUT never leave a comment. To my students, who have become my friends I say thank you for the wonderful year of learning, you have taught me so much. I will also miss the banquet that Ross managed to cook each week. Tuesday, we had homemade iced coffees- with a great deal of ice-cream and cream! We had his pasts dish and of course those healthy chocolate biscuits. Maybe now I can lose some weight!

Near Death Talk

Yesterday Hubby & I ventured over to the beautiful suburb of Caringbah where I was to give a talk about my Near Death Experience. Tad (Teenage daughter) chooses not to attend this time, which saddened a few people.

To all those who attended I say thank you.
I was welcomed with smiles & a wonderful hug from Patricia (who had invited me to speak).
The atmosphere was friendly, peaceful, caring, loving and I instantly felt very much at home.

Although I do not believe in coincidences, I was astounded to meet people that either knew of my story or had heard me speak 11 years or more ago!
One beautiful lady, Margot (whose age I will not reveal) remembers TAD & I from the Sunday Life Magazine ( The Sun- Herald lift out magazine- dated 25th January 1998) in which TAD & I were the main feature article.
I was also to meet Kathy again, who was at a talk I gave at Burwood 12 years ago (?)
To Jill, who cancelled her own speaking appointment to come & hear me speak again after 10 years (I hope I did not let you down).
To Christine, Rose, Colleen, to Patricia’s grandchildren, to all who came I say thank you from my heart to yours. Your tears touched me.
You all gave far more to me then you will ever know. Please stay in touch with me.

Disabled mother of three beats odds to publish own book

Despite blinding headaches, severe epileptic seizures and difficulty reading and writing, mother of three, Joanne Calman, has just published her own book. She is on a mission to tell others about her extraordinary near death experience.
